| I have just found the following article on the Yahoo news website, Spooky! Haunting Photo Baffles Ghost Busters.
Personally, I think that if it hasn't been Photoshopped, it could be genuine. However, I do think that it looks rather "cartoony", almost unlike a real person, so at the moment, I am undecided! lol
What do you think of the photograph and the article? Do you think that it is genuine?

| I can see what you are saying Nos Llew, but it is still intriguing ... the flattening could be caused to appear due to the camera angle.
If it is a fake, and three different experts have stated that it hasn't been "Photoshopped", someone must have a great deal more patience than I could muster!!!
I have looked at this photograph on a picture editing package and there is an amazing amount of detail in there, including light/shadow differences and that also intrigues me as that effect is not easy to achieve away from an actual location with the ambient lighting.
I have a feeling that this "mystery" may never be solved in any satisfactory way ... but please share your thoughts.

| I went to http://www.richardwiseman.com/hauntings2/experiments.html where you can see some of the other pictures from the same competition.
I'm still not convinced. I think that it all depends on how they were taken (e.g. was it film or digital, because I have heard of times when film has stuck and taken another picture over the top of an old picture). And only the people that have taken them know the conditions in which the picture was taken, so can say that there was no one else present. However, I also think that as most of the "ghosts" seen on photographs are often seen later when you get home and you may have missed someone else on the same beach as you etc.
Besides this, does "Eighth Place: Ghost in field" look like it is modelling underwear to anyone else?! lol

| Another photograph has been found, that was taken 30 years ago ... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/5097978/Second-ghost-sighting-at-Tantallon-Castle.html. I am not sure if it is a ghost, to me it looks a bit like a turkey?! - Alex Pryce, of the Edinburgh Skeptics group wrote:
- "When the picture is enlarged, it is quite obvious it is a woman with a carrier bag in her hand and her handbag over her shoulder. It is a woman in a pink jacket coming down some stairs with a shopping bag."
I can't see that either. Can anyone else?

| I couldn't see it as a woman at all ... but I do have to agree with your appraisal of the image, Annie - it looks just like a turkey (was it taken at Christmas time???? lol) | |

| I can see the woman with her shopping, but her head is tiny!! lol
I won't say that it isn't a real woman because I don't know if there is a staircase there or not, but to me it seems highly unlikey. Often I think it is a case of seek and you shall find. Like if you are looking to see a person in a blur you will see a person there like an optical illusion.
