Advice in the face of adversity

Having read just hints of what some of us on the forum are currently dealing with I thought I'd start this thread.

Whether it be spiritual, emotional, physical or even financial crisis, what sort of tips and advice woukd you give those that are facing adversity?

Generally speaking use common sense and the resources around you. Don't be afraid to ask for help, try not to worry about things (it is counter productive), prioritise problems and then break them down into bitesize chunks then deal with them methodically, don't be afraid to walk away - not giving up is admirable but there are times when whatever you are doing will just get you knowhere and may even cause pain or harm so walk away.

I know this is bog standard stuff. Depending on the situation though, I'm sure we can all come up with more specific advice.

Talking of specific, from another thread when it comes to job hunting, interviews, networking, etc. I can offer advice and assistance. Just ask if you need any help.

Any other general advice everyone or even specific issues that you may feel others on the forum can help with?

All I would say would be try to take a step back and relax. Know that whatever happens you can deal with it with the love and support of those around you. Smile

Don't be afriad to ask for help, that's what friends and family are there for. (and if they find out you're in trouble and you haven't told them, they usually get annoyed Mad

)
Also to help calm down i've always found the accupressue I learnt really helpful. Each finger represents an emotion and when trying to control or subdue that feeling you single hold the finger tightly while taking deep breaths.
Thumb- Worry
Index finder- Fear
Middle finger- Anger (no supprises there Finger

)
Ring finger- Saddness
Little finger- Frustration

One problem I've got is my current assignment: I am creating a hotel/retreat for Pagan and New Ager's, and I need a name for it!!

If you don't like these then you can always find a website and translate you're perferred word till you find one that sounds right. Also if you don't like this idea at all, you can always think of one yourself like I have to! Razz

You can only be what you give yourself the power to be- believe you can do it and your half way there already!
Worry solution- Have the courage to change what you can
the serenity to accept what you cannot change
and the wisdom to know the difference
(though of course this is easier said than done)

See, it's because of those sorts of situations that I want to be a counsellor or something: I like helping people: it's fulfilling, I mean, there aren't really any jobs where you can come home after a long days work and think "I really made that persons day, didn't I?"

Thats why ive considered a career in pyschology and taken it. I'm exactly the same, and apparently give the best advice, lol
