i did try to form my own small coven when i was in year 7 with friends, had to move though ... i had plans, found a nice forest circle and everything!

well, there was me, and a couple of female friends in my year, then there was my friend who lived near me (9 at the time) and her sister(even younger) we wanted an age restriction, but of course made an exception to the sister. that would have been the core. then we could let anyone we found (and were able to be good friends with) about it.. but it didnt really get to that stage.
i was pretty interested in it, i just didnt know very much about the boundaries of magick, say alot of the terms used i had never heard of etc, even pagan i thought was the same as wicca (or never heard of it till i studied more on it)

agh, well! i think i did initiate myself and one of my friends, but that would only be in mind I see what you mean about the authority and such - (and i wanted to be the high preistess of it as well) haha

Just to explain what is actually meant by a Wiccan coven:

A coven following Gerald Gardner's teaching (Gardnerian Wicca) can only be created by a member of an existing coven who has reached the third degree of initiation, any coven claiming to Gardnerian must be able to demonstrate it’s linage back to Gerald Gardner himself.
Gardnerian Wicca is a mystery religion and any members are sworn to secrecy, very much like Freemasonry from which Gardner drew much of his inspiration. Gardnerian Wicca is highly ritualised and always requires the active participation of all the members, for that reason Gardnerians are very careful about vetting new members and will never advertise or offer to train people for a fee. Those wishing to join a Gardnerian coven are best advised to take an active part in Pagan life while making your wishes known, if you are lucky you will be approached by a coven member and invited to join. New coven members are expected to train for a year and a day before they become initiated, very few trainees make it this far hence there are few true Gardnerian covens in existence.

Alexandrian Wicca follows most of the tenants of Gardnerian except they do not have the same vow of secrecy, several books exist giving details of Alexandrian rituals and rituals, the most famous being Janet & Stewart Farrar’s “Witches Bible”. Like Gardnerian an Alexandrian coven will be run by a High Priest or Priestess trained in an existing coven and all covens will be able to trace their linage back to Alex Saunders who in turn was trained by Gerald Gardner. most Alexanderian covens are in America, but a few exist in Europe

In the 1990s Llewellyn Publishing recognising a gap in the market commissioned several authors to write books suggesting that it was possible to initiate yourself into the Wiccan religion, this is completely false, but has gained much popularity among the younger generations, later Llewellyn books have mixed New Age ideas and Self Initiation Wicca to create the modern interpretation that Wicca is all about Nature worship.

I forgot to add that Wiccan covens usualy have a minimun age of 21 although I understand some have now lowered this to 18 .

i cant remember exactly... i liked the idea of having powers, i beleived i could throw flames from my hand (still do:P) and acted like i worshipped the devil in primary school...
i think its one of those things of the imagination, like beleiving that the half frozen water you have is a healing potion, etc... i cant pinpoint an exact moment on becoming interested, as with anything, it graduaklly eases into your life

What was the goal of this coven? What did you hope to accomplish?

At the age she was, probably some harmless imaginative fun. But things like that do stretch the knowledge of the unknown... You know; you get into something innocently at first, but when you start reading about it and researching into it you start taking it seriously. I know of loads of kids that did that (or at least similar). It pretty much makes sure you start adulthood with an open mind and an education that spands beyond what you can learn in school (which is exactly what's needed in the world today, to be honest).

I dont remember what i wanted to accomplish, but from the motivation i had, i guess to expand my own interest along with everyone else's... meeting people i wouldnt normally know... hearing their ideas and experiences in conjunction with my own, and my friends...

and the fact i was on my way to becoming part of a successful grouping that was my/my friends idea.
watching our ideea becoming a reality i guess...

My primary school was a 'church of england' and of course, many would become christians as they live, and so, i guess i wanted to be different (as if i wasnt different enough anyway)
also, i agree with the open-mindedness... especially down in farnham - a large majority were so snobbish there
