| I am looking to do some more research into magick, wicca, witchcraft and spellcasting over teh summer and I was wondering if you can recomend any books for me to read. I have looked in my local library and they don't have anything decent, so when I have some money, I am going to invest in some good books, but there are so many, I don't know which ones to get. Aaaaah! Conunderumba! Please can you help me | |

| ok as you didnt mention crystals here but in another thread mentioned the interest in knowing them i would reccommend this book,
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Love-Earth-Kaleidoscope-Crystals-Melody/dp/0962819034/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239437789&sr=1-1
next wicca, a good place to start is this book,
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wicca-Bible-Definitive-Guide-Magic/dp/1841812501/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239437951&sr=1-1
and a good book i find to help learn casting is this i had it myself until i outgrew the need for it,
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pure-Magic-Complete-Course-Spellcasting/dp/1578633915/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239438055&sr=1-1
these should be a good start and are all pretty cheap (except the crystal book but it is most definitly worth it)

| The only book that Nos has recommended that I have read is The Wicca Bible, which I too would recommend.
I would also recommend Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham as I found it was a really good, well written book that covers the basics. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wicca-Solitary-Practitioner-Llewellyns-Practical/dp/0875421180/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239713028&sr=1-1
I would also recommend the books that Kate West has written as I found them useful for learning. http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_b?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=kate+West&x=0&y=0
Another book that I read was The Wicca Handbook by Eileen Holland. It wasn't the best written book and I felt that some of it was rather contradictory, but it has excellent correspondence tables at the back. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wicca-Handbook-Eileen-Holland/dp/1578634385/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239712949&sr=1-6
Oh, and following on from Nos's point about crystal books, The Crystal Bible is an excellent starting point. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Crystal-Bible-Definitive-Guide-Crystals/dp/1841811750/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1239713550&sr=1-1 And I have just found out that later this year The Crystal Bible 2 is being released, with 200 new stones in it.

| I agree about Scott Cunninghams books, they are an excellent starting point, not only his books on wicca but also on herbs, earth power etc
For spells, I recommend The Goodly Spellbook by Lady Passion & Diuvei

| scott cunnighams books have some good points but i would get the wicca bible first
there are many books on magic and wicca but its what feels right that you should go with there are many authers that write about the same thing but contradict each other so just go with what feels right dont think cos someone wrote a book you must follow everything they say.
the crystal book i reccomended is a reference book only so its perfect for someone looking to know what a crystal is used for, the book annie mentioned is similar not in as much depth and not as expensive but a good book for a absolute beginner.
if you do get the love is in the earth and your unsure of what they look like there is also a pictoral version of the book with only pictures of the crystals their names and what they are composed of so its a perfect companion to the love is in the earth guide
