| My friends found an original vinyl LP pressing by Alistair Crowley... neither of them have dared playing it yet (its got no indication of what sort of thing it is, so to avoid any adverse affects of playing it, they just look at it - probably for the best). | |

Then get them to send it to me, I'll listen to it no problem, I'll even transcribe it to a CD for them if they want.

| Crowley may well have just been being grandiose by using the 'k' (not a Crowley fan myself!) but there are good reasons for using it. Apart from the fact that it looks better (lmao Aurora) I use it to distinguish between actual magick and illusion. For example, Crowley is famous for doing magick, whilst Paul Daniels does magic. Obviously, not everyone uses it in this way and like Logmadr said, it's dowm to personal preference, but I find it to be quite useful. | |

| I once downloaded some of Crowleys recordings from the net and played them, fortunately nothing sinister happened! If anyone is into Crowley this months Fortean times is mostly about him. I love him, he was a great character. | |

| Personally I think he was a bit of a boob...he claimed to be the reincarnation of lots of other Occultists....he had heavy drug habbits and was a Nympho! Yes, he may have had great ideas, but I believe he was a bit of a smear on the Magic(k)al community.... | |

Paul Daniels and other stage magicians refer to themselves as Illusionists, they perform illusions, not magic. so there is no need for a K in fantasy magic

Because it's a word beloved by fluffies and you know how much I love them and it's symptom of the lack of research carried out by the average newbie

| "Paul Daniels is without doubt one of the most accomplished magicians in the World" ( www.pauldaniels.co.uk) Magician ... Illusionist ... I can see that the two words are VERY similar and some people MAY get confused. | |

it's symptom of the lack of research carried out by the average newbie Surely that is why one refers to them as newbies, because they are still researching?

You misunderstand what a fluffy is, yes all those who follow a so called Nature based religion are fluffy by default, but the term also refers to those that continue to believe a premise even after it has been disproved beyond argument - an examolple are those who have been shown the evidence showing photographic orbs are caused by reflected ligh, but who continue to believe they are ghosts or fey.

| Oh I thought fluffies were people who believed in things like Faeries and Gnomes, etc. When things have been scientifically proven, I do tend to stop believing....but normally I don't believe in things that have ANY scientific basis!! lol Like Runes: there is no scientific reason why they should tell the future, yet I believe they do....
Hey, I'm not a fluffy!!!!! WOO!!! I thought I was!!!!

| Whilst i think orbs and and others can be wishful thinking i refuse to rule out other possiblities, something that has been proven by science does not make it fact. Don't forget it was once scientificly proven the world was flat.
Science is based on the idea that when you have elliminated all other possible theories the one you are left with is right. That doesn't mean there isn't one that someone hasn't thought of yet.

That's a contradiction isn't it? - Zephron wrote:

It wasn't proven, that was just a theory. They did however prove it was spherical. - Amberlady wrote:

I don't doubt that a lot probably are! In reality nature is anything but fluffy! Nature is cruel and ruthless, a total b*tch in fact.

| I wouldn't say a contradiction the important ord here is not proven or fact but science. Science to me can never hold all the answers, it is based on what humans can think, this universe wasn't constructed as such.
Yes they have proven ts sphereical, for now but what if they discovered another dimension (i dont mean as in planes) that would mean it could in theory take on a new shape. Also do correct me but isn't it ovoid (gravitational pulls i think) in shape a discovery they made aftre saying it was a perfect sphere.

| Science? Theory? Fluffy nature lovers? Debates on these subjects are something I am sure many people might be willing to contribute to, for example I agree with Zephron about science and would be pleased to back this up but not on this thread!. With respect, can we start new threads about these subjects if people want to debate them please? This thread is about Darkness and Magick (and not how it's spelt either for gods sake , particularly coming from someone who is new to the forum, is disrespectful to members straight away and wants to argue about the accuracy of a spelling used universally by millions but thinks nothing of calling herself both an atheist and a pantheist at the same time? Eh? Go figure it!). It's just disrespectful to the thread starter to hijack it this way. The thread was taking an interesting direction as well so could we get back to it please? Thank 'ee very much. | |

| Very well said Ryoma, you are right of course, I hadn't noticed this thread slipping in to turmoil.
Please people, learn from my mistake (hehe!) and keep this on topic, or it WILL be locked
Thank you

'Nature's not a b*tch, nature's a beautiful woman. You're just p*ssed off cos she wont give up the p*ssy'! - sorry just one of favourite lyrics! Back on subject I totally agree with Grimnir on the use of curses. If it's used to defend yourself or loved ones then I believe it's justified. I know I have, and would do all I can to protect the ones I love.

| Curses to attack are fine if all over forms of defence have been attempted, if you disable the person attacking you then thats defence isnt it.
Its all about trying to pick things that harm the fewest people and if one person is being a f*****g b***h and causing harm to lots of people (no matter whether you love them or not), by making that person unable to go on and harm more people than thats ok.
Like I said aslong as you have tried every other defence first. I wouldnt use curses in any other way........unless someone REALLY pissed me off! hehe joke! Seriously!! Stop looking at me with that accusing gaze!!! xxx
(p.s. thank you ook xxx)

Good point actually, that's true! The thing I like about science is that there will always be something new to learn. People keep on making discoveries and adding bits to the jigsaw puzzle that makes up our picture of the world. Anyway....
