Winter Solstice

Hello again! I wondered about starting a general thread re: The Winter Solstice, since it is coming up fairly soon. Wondered if people would like to share questions regarding it, share bits of lore, what it means to them, ideas for celebration, feedback, stuff for general support regarding meanings and ritual, etc, etc, etc!
From my own B.O.S (not that I actually use that term(!)..I like to call it Alban Arthan (The Light of Arthur) here in myth Arthur is seen as the Sun-god who dies and is reborn as the Celtic Son of Light - the Mabon...To me the story of the goddess's journey is also important...and I like to use pine, holly, mistletoe and yew as part of the ritual....Anyway, enough from me....let's see if this thread catches alight....... santa

well of course, now we know that Aidans ashes will be scattered on the 23rd, i guess it all coincides nicely. I love Yule..i love winter in general, better than summer, summer is overrated hehe. Blessings

I was asked today which I would prefer ... a month in the Sahara Desert or a month in the Arctic. Without hesitation, I responded that I would opt for the Arctic every time ... at least you can add layers of clothing if you are cold but propriety dictates that there is a point at which you have to stop peeling off layers!!!!

We love Winter.

Winter Solstice is something I know absolutely zero about. Can someone enlighten me on the subject please? I know it's important but that is all.
