In it's most basic form teaches love and respect. Surely that is better than pure logic (survival of the fittest, etc). Yes it may have a bad history (to be fair so does all of society) but most christians I know today simply believe the religion is simply a set of guidline to help people to be a good person (respect one another etc). In my opinion all religions seem to be leading to the same thing, they're just taking different routes.
