What do Witches wear when they get 'all dressed up' for a special occassion? Is there a formal dress code? Knitting

Well I really want a two sets of robes because i like dressing up! I'd love a simple white robe for doing esbats (full moon celebrations) and spells, and id love a more showy robe for rituals and sabbats (festivals). The idea behind having a special set mof clothes to preform magick is a sort of ritual itself, the idea of casting off daily life and getting in the right mind set for magick, for example many people in wicca have ritual baths before preforming spells. Other people may like to work skyclad (nifty name for NAKED! hehe) but it depends on the situation etc for example id prefer to work outside in a robe rather than inside naked, (well if i could i think working outside naked would be pretty cool but then again my neighbours family or anyone i may be working with could disagree! hehe). So yes it depends on what your comfortable with and what feels right for you!

I like the contrast in colour for the different ceremonies as well. Is there a specific type of jewellery worn on each occasion or is this down to personal preference?

sigh i would love a nice set of robes but they are so expensive (at least the ones i ilke are) and its quite difficult to find really nice mens robes most give me the impression of a 16th century inqusitor. There are a few nice sets out there but then money seems to see out of my bank account i must plug it up somehow.

To be honest, my perfect set of ritual clothes would probably be white or dark blue flannel shirt and trousers with thick socks Very Happy

it's comfortable and isn;t the sort of thing I would usually wear, but I don;t suit dresses...

I've toyed with the idea of buying some but they are so expensive and i believe that the mosre love and effort you put into something the better it works for you. If anyone has seen my athame they'll tell you :-p hehe so yeah im planning on getting an easy layout and just buying some mateiral and doing it myself when i have time! x

Being a 'hedgewitch', it's not important for me to have 'special' clothes for rituals, though I will try to wear colours which represent the sabbat/esbat I'm celebrating.

In the warmer months, there have been occasions where I've worn nothing at all as I feel more 'me'. You need to make sure the curtains are closed though (hee hee)!

I prefer doing my rituals skyclad but I don't think it would be fair on the other people if I did it in group rituals (the vomiting my distract from the spell!) I also like having a bath before hand as it help get me in the right frame of mind- metaphorically and physically getting rid of the dirt.
I would love to have a set of robes but I agree that the amount of yourself you put into something dictates what you get out of it so I'm going to make my own when I get around to it- it's on the list! Wink

XD only just... i was actually somewhat refering to the comment on sick and disturbed people - i mean, imagine coming across a group of people 'casting' things in corsets and hotpants XD
